Basic Life Skills Training
The Basic Life Skills Training (BLST) is delivered in two parts.:
- Part A: Active City Development Program (ACDP)
- - This is a 10-day program aimed at promoting good health, fitness and wellbeing physically, mentally and emotionally. The trainees are guided to be responsible, respectful and resourceful. During ACDP the trainees open their bank accounts. Transport and lunch are provided for trainees.
- Part B: Job Readiness Training
- - This is 10 days of classroom learning that youths go through. They are required to attain 80% attendance during BLST in order to qualify and proceed to the next stage, in their progressive learning journey. Lunch is also provided.
- - BLST has nine (9) modules:
- Communicate effectively with others;
- Conflict resolution;
- Gender;
- Getting ready for work;
- Managing your income and nutrition;
- Meeting work expectations;
- Safety;
- Self awareness; and
- Time management.
